Konica-Minolta Copier Mechanism

Â

Yet another example of a bi-directional feeding system. This is the duplexing scan feeder of a Konica-Minolta copy machine.

The stepper motor turns in both a clockwise and counter-clockwise direction. the feed roller only turns in one direction, regardless of the direction the motor is spinning. In this case, the process is accomplished by two, one-way clutches on the feed roller. Both clutches only engage in one direction (the same direction as each other). The only difference is that one clutch has one more gear placed in the drive-train, this reverses the direction.

These are the two clutches. The one to the left has an extra gear in the power-train. (underneath)

This gear connects the motor to the first clutch and goes to another gear underneath that in turn connects to the left clutch (the reversing gear)

Hidden behind the shielding is the reversing gear.
